finding a positive..in the uncertainty

I may be one of the few people enjoying this quarantine…

Working from home is not the biggest change for most of us. Working from home with our families home, now that’s a change! If working from home is new for you, welcome to scheduling freedom,  virtual meetings, and comfy clothes.

For our household, having everyone home is a pleasant change. Granted, this is our first week in the quarantine house. Ask me again in a couple more weeks, and my answers may change.

My husband, a security engineer, can work remotely from his home office. My high schooler has started her remote classwork and is self-guiding her studies. While I continue to work from my home office in technical sales.

CJ and Ella are both gamers so now they have extra time to enjoy online games. There is nowhere to be and nothing we need to get ready for.

During the quarantine, we get to eat lunch together. Take breaks and enjoy a laugh. We are home to make dinner and hang out. My husband and I sat on the patio, enjoying each other’s company and coffee. We haven’t done that in so long that I felt like we were on vacation.

Before the quarantine…CJ and I travel for work, trying to coordinate who is home with Ella and the dogs.  Always packing and unpacking suitcases. Driving thirty minutes each way to get to and from school every morning and again every afternoon.

Now every evening is game night or movie night! It’s relaxing and quiet. Our home is near a popular area in Houston.  The usually active street filled with restaurants and bars is now peaceful and calm. Sitting outside on the patio in the evening, the breeze is wonderful, and the weather has been perfect.

Before I was rushing around each morning to get to 6 am yoga, workout for an hour, rush home to shower, and out the door by 7:30 to get Ella to school on time. Home by 8:30 am, ready to rock and roll.

Now I wake up and take the dogs for a walk, enjoy a cup of coffee on the patio and do yoga before starting work. No rushing.TawnieB7

I can have a glass of wine in the evening and read a good book or enjoy a movie. No regrets. Just staying safe and practicing social distancing.

I wish I could keep everyone home forever.

Now that we all have been forced to slow down a bit. How are you going to let this time change your life? Will you use this time for self-reflection? Select good books to invest in your learning and focus on inner peace.

OR will you waste this time watching mindless TV? Hours on the couch following social media rants, franticly watching the news.

I suggest doing some good ole time management. Find the positive and enjoy this mini staycation.
